Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m the coffee girl. They know I love my coffee. It’s the thing I do, the one thing I do that keeps me working, moving, and grooving with my life. I really enjoy GOOD coffee.
I’m not a Folger’s Girl.
That’s important to know, if you’re ever buying me coffee… don’t waste my time with the traditional 5# can of black crud most people refer to as coffee. I don’t buy it, don’t drink it. And to be perfectly honest, that stuff is nasty. Give me some over-roasted barista beans and a grinder to grind my own any day of the week. And, yeah… I’m even pretty picky about my dark roast beans.
So, there… You have it.
I’m a coffee snob.
And I readily admit it.
I don’t even hesitate to admit, I’m a coffee snob.
I take my white privilege with dark roast beans, grown fresh for my coffee pot. And I prefer them ground just a wee bit finer than most, so tighten down those grinders boys! I want some good coffee.
But… today’s coffee was a wee bit more.
It was something of a fantasy fulfilled. A moment of decadent richness that isn’t recognized by many, and even fewer behold the glimmer of the moment on any conscious level of existence. It was a moment when the tantalizing decadence of coffee lingered a moment longer than necessary awaiting the ambiance of glory that would come from taking a nibble off the side of one of Nona’s fresh baked, deliciously cream filled, cream puffs prior to taking a sip of coffee. In that moment of blissful union, I’m positive I heard angels singing the Hallelujah Chorus, felt the brisk northern breezes carry in snowflakes from the promised land, and tasted the luscious enticement of pure sin. A sinful moment for sure.
If you haven’t had one of Nona’s cream puffs (available only on Wednesday), you really MUST take a moment on Wednesday and go get one for yourself. They are decadently delicious.
I grabbed one. Had it with my coffee, and I must say… It was AMAZING.
